CalMac port staff cook up a storm for Macmillan
CalMac’s Brodick port staff showed their support – and baking skills – at a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at the ferry terminal.
Joining thousands of people from across the UK in the nationwide initiative, CalMac hosted its coffee morning last Friday, with the support of island businesses, including Arran Coffee, Arran Dairies, the Brodick Co-op and the port staff themselves who provided the bulk of the cakes and bakes on offer.
The event proved a huge success with a steady flow of visitors throughout the morning who all helped to raise more than £1,000 for the charity.
Across Arran, a number of organisations, including Pirnmill Village Association, The Shore in Whiting Bay and Kilmory Hall, all held coffee mornings, helping to raise much-needed funds to support those living with cancer.
Known as the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the annual fundraiser was started in 1990 and has helped to raise more than £290 million for Macmillan Cancer Support.
