Bishop visits Holy Cross Church

-

The Right Rev Brian McGee, Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles, visited Holy Cross church in Brodick last Sunday.

He celebrated morning Mass with parish priest Father Noel Colford. In his homily, Bishop Brian said Arran was one of the last parishes he visited before the lockdown in March last year. He was pleased to have been able to resume his parish visits now that restrictions had eased and glad to be on Arran once again. He thanked Father Noel and all parishioners for the efforts they had made to keep the community together and to help each other through difficult times.

Although the pandemic was, and continues to be a challenge to us all, it has also provided opportunities to reflect and meditate on what is important in our lives and how we can make changes for the better in future. He said that Jesus’s message in the Gospel was to look through the eyes of children to make our lives and the world a better place.

After Mass, tea, coffee and home-baking were served and Bishop Brian met with parishioners and visitors.
