Corrie Film Club is back in action
There has been no Corrie Film Club since March 2020 but the doors will be open again and the cameras rolling on Sunday October 17.
The club starts back with a showing of a feel good and warming film – The Englishman who Climbed a Hill and came down a Mountain, starring Hugh Grant and Tara Fitzgerald.
Set in 1917 against the background of the First World War, a cartographer arrives in a Welsh village to measure the height of their ‘mountain’. Finding it short of mountain status, it is deemed a ‘hill’.
There is love, humour, discord and moving sadness as the villagers, despite divisions, find a common purpose in rectifying the state of affairs.
This film was a 1995 entry to the Moscow and Cannes film festivals.
See it in Corrie and Sannox village hall on Sunday at 8pm. Entry free, but a small donation is requested for the hall.
