ARRAN Sense of Scotland exceed £10K fundraising target
Less than six months into its year-long charity partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, local home and body care business ARRAN Sense of Scotland has exceeded its £10,000 fundraising target for the charity’s annual Memory Walk, writes Colin Smeeton.
The Brodick-based company, which is best known for its signature scent After the Rain, organised a number of fundraising activities, with the eight kilometre Memory Walk round Arran taking place in driving rain.
More than 30 colleagues took part in the round Arran Memory Walk with all of the funds raised going towards Alzheimer Scotland which provides vital work for those living with dementia, as well as support for their friends, families, and carers.
Kevin Meechan, chief executive officer at ARRAN Sense of Scotland said: ‘On behalf of everyone here at ARRAN Sense of Scotland, I am overjoyed that we have already met and exceeded our fundraising total for Alzheimer Scotland. Aside from the obvious benefits to the charity, taking part in our own Memory Walk on
Arran allowed us to experience our shared purpose of connecting with nature, while helping to raise awareness of such an important cause.
‘Dementia is a cause close to the hearts of some of our colleagues, so I couldn’t be prouder of everyone for taking part and for all their fundraising efforts over the last few months. It feels truly humbling to know the difference our contribution will make to the lives of many.’
Caroline Miller, lead for stakeholder engagement at Alzheimer Scotland, said: ‘All of our local support from our dementia advisors, to our community groups and therapeutic exercises are funded entirely from fundraising, so the contribution from ARRAN Sense of Scotland will make a huge impact on the lives of the people we support.’
Despite the target being reached, fundraising activities will continue throughout the next 12 months, along with other initiatives that will raise awareness of what life is like for those living with dementia.
