Arran Ladies Golf Union
Saturday October 23, ALGU Championship final at Lamlash Golf Club. The finalists were defending champion Ann May and Susan Butchard.
A good crowd of spectators were privileged to see some excellent golf from both ladies especially in very windy conditions.
The game started off very evenly but Ann began to take control, being three up at the turn.
She continued strongly on the back nine but then the tide started to turn in Susan’s favour.
Susan had some superb putts to take her from six down to two down by the 16th hole.
By this time the crowd were wondering what could possibly happen next in this nail-biting final.
The 17th was halved giving Ann a two and one victory.
Well done to both ladies for reminding us how golf should be played – great shots, great sportsmanship and great fun.
