Music Arran re-awakens

-

The enthusiastic audience at last week’s wonderful Scottish Opera Highlights in Lochranza Hall was testament to the fact so many Arran residents have missed listening to live music throughout the pandemic.

Music Arran is delighted it is able to hold monthly concerts throughout 2022, starting this month. It has an exciting programme of professional musicians lined up, from a classical pianist, to a ‘rock choir’, a classical guitarist to Scotch the Band, from jazz to a cello and piano duo, and Brass Tracks to a male vocal ensemble, part of the McLellan Festival.

Visit www.arranmusic.co.uk or watch out for adverts in the Banner every month.

Our concert for March is ADLibitum, Andrea and Djordje Gajic, the exciting violin and accordion duo, well known to Arran music fans. They will be playing two of Vivaldi’s Seasons, Winter and Spring, JS Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, two pieces by Sarasate and Albeniz, a violin solo by H Ernst and two Viennese waltzes by F Kreisler.

The name ADLibitum means playing with free rhythm and expression so the audience may be in for some surprises too. This concert is in Brodick Hall on Saturday March 19 at 7.30pm.

To protect everyone who comes to the concert, refreshments will not be provided, but people are free to bring their own. The hall will be laid out in cafe style to allow for social distancing and everyone is asked to do a lateral flow test before attending.

To avoid congestion at the door, Arran Music has done away with membership cards and will instead charge £12 for tickets. Admission for everyone aged under 18 is free. The group looks forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy great music.
