Golfers unite to support Ukraine

-

Scottish Golf, the national governing body for the sport of golf in Scotland, has shown its solidarity with the people of Ukraine by joining an initiative known as Golfers for Ukraine which is raising funds to assist with humanitarian efforts.

On its global fundraising page at https://golfersforukraine.com/ the group has united golfers from all round the world by urging them to donate to the initiative which has already raised £559,680.

A spokesperson for Scottish Golf said: ‘We extend our thoughts and support to the people suffering in this horrifying war and we are united with communities around the world in the hope that peace will return quickly.

‘We are offering our support by donating to UNICEF’s work to deliver much-needed humanitarian aid to those who need it most.

‘It is impossible not to feel powerless at times like this, so we hope – along with many other golfing organisations – that this will help in some way. Together, we can try and make a difference.’

Golfing organisations and individuals from across the world have contributed to the fundraising initiative and are urging all golfers to help spread the word by using the hashtag #golfersforukraine. If anyone wishes to add their support or make a donation, they can visit golfersforukraine.com

UNICEF is on the ground in Ukraine providing aid to children and their families including emergency supplies like water, trauma care as well as helping children separated from family.

The charity has set up safe spaces for families in neighbouring countries with key information, safe spaces and the protection of unattended children.
