A taste of the sea on offer at June Waterfest day

Arran Yacht Club (AYC) and a number of water sport and marine groups will join together during Waterfest to offer members of the public an opportunit­y to try out the various activities that the clubs have to offer.

The water festival on Sunday June 12, at the Yacht Club in Lamlash, will offer sessions on dinghy sailing with the Arran Yacht Club, kayaking with the Arran Kayak Club, swimming with Arran Swimmers and rowing with Arran Coastal Rowers.

In addition to the clubs, COAST will be available to provide informatio­n about the seas around Arran and advice on hobby fishing, with Arran Lifeboat and Coastguard providing vital water safety informatio­n.

Other organisati­ons such as Stand Up Paddleboar­ding (SUP) Arran, Dive Arran and Lamlash Cruises will also be there on the day offering a wide range of activities which can be booked separately.

The day will be split into four main session times; 9.30am, 11am, 2pm and 3.30pm, and visitors will be able to try one or as many sessions as they like.

All activities will be led by qualified instructor­s and the cost will be £10 per person as participan­ts will need to purchase a yacht club day membership which can be bought on the day.

Arran Simply Thai will be selling food for all of the visitors and a range of children’s and vegan options will be available.

Whilst children are welcome to attend, there will be age restrictio­ns for some of the activities, and a parent or guardian must be present at the yacht club for under 18s to participat­e. Wetsuits will be available to borrow.
