Gordon’s Nepal fundraiser gets off to a fantastic start

Artist Gordon Davidson’s garden fundraiser, which will allow him to continue teaching art to Nepali children in some of the most deprived areas of South Asia, has started off well with ‘loads of supporters’ visiting his Corrie garden to help raise funds for his upcoming trip.

A devotee of assisting disadvantaged youngsters and young adults in Nepal, Gordon has opened up his garden – and living room – at Prospect Cottage, Corrie, where he is selling his artwork and some of the children’s artwork, along with art material, souvenirs, curios and plants, to help cover some of the costs for his Nepal visit in September.

When the Banner visited his well-stocked garden on the first day of the sale, Gordon expressed his delight at the number of people who had visited already and was pleasantly surprised at the response to his fundraising.

Gordon said: ‘Arran has done it again! The amount of support from the community has been moving, with many people saying that they are happy to support a cause where they know that every penny will go towards helping Nepali children.

‘There have been loads of people on the first day of the sale and I encourage anyone to come and have a look at the items for sale.

‘All money raised will go towards teaching art, assisting children from poor communities and assisting with education for deserving children.’

Among the items for sale is an extensive collection of Japanese acer plants which have been grown from seed and which are vividly coloured at the moment.

The plants are slow growing and among the items for sale were plants that have been nurtured for more than 15 years, along with many other younger plants.

Gordon’s garden sale continues until Sunday June 5, from noon to 5pm every day, and his house can be found down the lane next to the war memorial in Corrie.
