Distilleries double island’s electric charge points
Isle of Arran Distillers has installed electric vehicle charging units at its two distilleries at Lochranza and Lagg, doubling the total number of public charging points on the island.
The distillery worked with Ayrshire-based company Connekt EV which installed four 22kw fast charging units at the distilleries at the north and south end of the island.
Connekt EV founder Johnny Manning was delighted to be involved with helping Arran Distillers contribute to sustainable tourism on the island by installing the charging points. Born and raised in Ayrshire, Johnny visits Arran regularly and felt this was a perfect opportunity for his company to be involved in improving island sustainability and the network of electric vehicle charging units.
Johnny said: “This is a great move forward to be supporting the charging infrastructure in Ayrshire and Arran and I am immensely proud to be part of contributing towards a more sustainable future.”
Euan Mitchell, managing director of Arran Distillers, who welcomed the new installations, said: “Visitors to the island can now travel between both distilleries and around the island safe in the knowledge they can charge their electric vehicles. As an EV driver myself, I am well aware of the benefits this will bring, as well as further enhancing our company’s green credentials.”
In addition to the environmental benefits from the use of electric vehicles, Connekt EV has partnered with more:trees and for every charger installed, a tree is planted to further help businesses achieve their sustainability policies.
