Church bedecked with beautiful blooms at spring flower festival
The visually appealing and finely crafted interior of Lamlash Church was given an extra touch of beauty last week when the church was filled with seasonal arrangements and bouquets during the spring flower festival.
The festival, which celebrates rebirth, re-awakenings and all the joys of the season, saw the ornately decorated church filled with floral displays and the parishioners enjoying a warm drink and companionship in the church hall.
Outside, a floral display in the shape of the cross welcomed visitors while the vestibule also took on a welcoming appearance with a generous helping of fresh flowers adding a softening touch to all of the carved wood and stone. Inside the brightly lit church, which has stained glass windows which provided colourful dappled light, flower arrangements provided eye-catching detail to the pews and the window recesses.
The credence table was decorated with a stunning display of white roses which a parishioner requested to be placed there as a tribute and memorial to the 22 airmen who lost their lives in 1944 when their airplane crashed into Mullach Buithe, north of Goatfell.
The altar was decorated with a delicate white arrangement and the transept, including the Duke of Hamilton’s table which is a special separate seating area within the church for the family of the man who had the church built, played host to colourful bouquets.
Throughout the day, the beautiful blooms imparted their floral fragrance throughout the church and the spectacle attracted visitors. many appreciative
