Rampant Southend win the Haulage Cup final
Southend took the first silverware of the season by winning the Arran Haulage Cup in fine style at neutral Lamlash.
The MBS boys were on top form and punished a disappointing performance from the Brodick team sporting their new strips sponsored by MacNeil Joinery.
Southend were ahead almost instantly with Donny Park getting the opener.
The second goal was the pick of the goals with a quick counter attack with some great passing which resulted in a brilliant strike by Finlay Miller.
Southend striker Liam Bremner scored a third before Donny added his second of the game to make it four.
Southend captain Ryan Armstrong then made it 5-0 just before half-time with a cracking strike from outside the box.
Brodick made changes at half-time but Southend made it six after they were awarded a penalty. Ryan stepped up for his second of the game making no mistake from the spot. Southend substitutes then made an impact resulting in James Mutch placing the ball beyond Finlay Sillars to bring the score to 7-0. Brodick pulled a goal back through full back Jack McNally when he headed in after a scramble in the box.
The final goal was scored by 15-year-old substitute Ewan Morrison, when he scored a rebound off his own shot. Finlay Miller received the man of the match award for a brilliant performance in the middle of the park.
The Arran Football Association would like to thank Rachel and Struan Armitage of Arran Haulage for their ongoing sponsorship and generous support of the competition. They would also like to thank recently retired Arran Haulage man Donald McKinnie for presenting the trophy and the celebratory refreshments.
Tonight (Friday) sees the start of the Arran Dairies League with Lamlash hosting Brodick at the high school pitch at 3pm.
