Quilt Arran stitch together plans for annual exhibition

-

Quilt Arran will be hosting its biennial exhibition early next month at Corrie and Sannox Village Hall.

The exhibition, showcasing the highly detailed and intricate work of the group, will be on public display from Saturday May 4 to Monday May 6, from 11am to 4pm.

Quilt Arran is a well-established group with around 20 members. It was first started in 2013 at Lamlash fire station with just six members. Although the group has a wealth of members of all abilities, they are always looking to welcome any new people who would like to learn the hobby.

The group meets every two weeks to share tips, ideas and to share inspiration with like-minded friends. The work produced during these meetings and in their spare time is exhibited every two years.

At their exhibitions, Quilt Arran members proudly show off their time-consuming work and are keen to show that they create a wide range of stitched and quilted items and not just what people might consider traditional bed quilts.

At each exhibition members are invited to take part in a stitching challenge which carries a theme. This year the theme is vase of flowers.

Over the three days, visitors will be able to vote for their favourite quilt with the winner of the people’s choice and other awards being presented on Monday May 6, at 3.30pm.

Visitors are encouraged to attend the exhibition where members will be delighted to chat with visitors about the processes behind each individual piece.

In addition to all of the items on display, tea, coffee, home baking and friendly conversation will be available for visitors to enjoy.
