STAGE FOUR
My darks were predominantly a grey from burnt sienna, burnt umber and French ultramarine, with touches of indigo and alizarin crimson. The lovely contrast of matt aluminium, shiny stainless steel and the glass lid were defined; loose, wet washes were layered onto the aluminium, with sharper lines and stronger tonal contrast to describe the steel. This mainly cool scene was broken up with some warm patches reflected from the wall tiles, a colour repeated throughout the painting
