STAGE FIVE

I strengthened the colour of the background in order to emphasise the intense highlight of the focal point, as well as warming up the central area. The tiled wall was hinted at rather than painted as a grid, which would distract the eye away from the main elements of the scene. The outer areas of the painting were kept soft to draw the eye into the centre; lastly I sharpened a few of the dark lines to bring out the highlights and added a splash of ultramarine for the gas flame
