The Girl in the Pink Dress, watercolour, 10314in (25.5335.5cm).

The walkers moved quickly and were painted straight onto the paper without any pre-drawing. The highlights were left as untouched white paper and the black dress indicated in a pale tone so that the colour could not bleed into the subsequent dune overwash. To make the highlights visible, such as on the hats, a darker tone was brought up against them. The black of the dress was painted at the end.

Colours used: Schmincke Indian yellow ultramarine finest, transparent sienna, ruby red
