STAGE FOUR

For the band of trees I chose mixtures of cadmium yellow with Winsor blue (red shade), adding French ultramarine to tone the green down. I worked with a size 10 brush, blending each tree with the next, and distinguishing each tree by their shape, foliage and colour. Some trees behind the barges were darkened with pure French ultramarine. The object of the exercise was to have a continuous band of trees, in moderate tone as backdrop for the barges and buildings
