TONAL DIVERSITY

WITH NITRAM CHARCOAL

- ~ Patsy McArthur

”I’ve been using Nitram since charcoal became my principle medium. I need charcoal that holds its structure well as I often put it through quite a workout. Making great work is much easier with charcoal that you can sharpen and with Nitram's range I get the benefit of tonal diversity.

In recent years, much of my work has dealt with the theme of figures in motion or transition. I deal with various themes in my work but in many of the images there is a feeling of strength and liberation. This can also allude to movement through psychological states. I strive to make my images convey a sense of power and energy or even potential energy.”
