STAGE EIGHT

With the drawing and blocking completed I concentrated on bringing the painting together as a whole, ensuring that the collage was not too obvious, adding a few details around the farm buildings and distant fence line. I blended the green-yellow-blue middle ground ‘quiet’ area – of the painting – and I darkened the foliage in the foreground so that the collage and mark making became one. Using a rigger I added a suggestion of grasses in dark and light colours and then added the blue-violets to help link the colours with the rest of the painting.
