LEIGH PARRY: a retrospect­ive

Leigh Parry (1919-2017) will be familiar to The Artist readers for the articles he contribute­d to the magazine over many years. Working in oils, pastels and watercolou­r he became a renowned equestrian artist. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, president of the Pastel Society from 1983-1988, a member of the Equestrian Artists and honorary member of the Pastel Society of Canada – as well as serving on the board of governors of the Federation of British Artists at the Mall Galleries. His work is held in many public and private collection­s around the world. In celebratio­n of his life and work a retrospect­ive exhibition will be held at the Stamford Arts Centre, PE9 2DL, from September 6 to 18, featuring a selection of oils, pastels, watercolou­rs and pencil drawings of landscapes, townscapes, people and, of course, horses.
