FIGURATIVE ART NOW
THE FEDERATION OF BRITISH ARTISTS
Online exhibition https://www.mallgalleries.org.uk/ whats-on/exhibitions/figurative-art-now
Figurative Art Now is a brand new online exhibition organised by the Federation of British Artists (FBA) to promote representational and figurative painting of the highest standards by artists from all over the UK. Almost 400 works are available to view, including paintings, drawings, sculpture and printmaking – some of them by elected members of the FBA, prize-winners, regular exhibitors and FBA Futures alumni – as well as work selected from open submission. The judging panel consisted of Jo Baring, director of the Ingram Collection; artists Andrew Gifford and Barbara Walker; Clare O’Brien, CEO Federation of British Artists; and Jonathan Watkins, director of the ICON gallery. Prizes include a solo exhibition at the Mall Galleries and a £5,000 cash prize. In addition to viewing works in the online exhibition there is also an opportunity to read snippets about recurring themes in the exhibition – such as cats and dogs, phones and laptops and travelling on trains and tubes – as well as a Q & A session with artist Maddy Buttling, winner of the Best Figurative Painting award at last year’s Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize, and details of prizes and awards at the annual New English Art Club Exhibition 2021. All works are for sale. The exhibition will be available to view online only until September 20 at https://www.mallgalleries.org.uk/whats-on/ exhibitions/figurative-art-now
