Colour & Light at the Mall Galleries in London features the work of the British Plein Air Painters – a group of contemporary artists who all share a passion for painting outdoors. The immediacy of painting in front of their subject requires the artists to work quickly, adding energy and a measure of serendipity to their work.
The group’s first exhibition took place in 2018 so this is only the second exhibition they have mounted. A wide range of styles, subjects and media will be on show and the group will be running a programme of talks, demonstrations and painting days throughout the week with opportunities to meet and paint with the artists.
The British Plein Air Painters have organised a number of Paint Out Days throughout the year at various venues from Kensington Gardens to Rye. These events are free, fun and informal. Participants meet at the designated meeting point, head off to paint then meet back at around 4pm to exchange experiences.
