Bringing the work to life
TELL YOUR STORIES
Every action has a reference to the climax as well as to the subject. This gives the picture an overall statement so you can build the framework of your approach like a novel. Give it content, with all the characters that deserve your attention. Think of stories and dream while you are painting: a romantic application of paint using the sponge, like a homage to love; hot and richly contrasting colour changes like a crime thriller, where the sharp-edged line gives a last clue. In the end, you get into the subject so much that you spontaneously place an accent that takes your breath away. This is what you do in order to do more than paint a picture. This is what you do to breathe life into your work, to make sparks fly and remind you of them when you look at it. The viewer wants to guess what the painting is about, which will inspire their interpretation.
