July’s The Artist’s 90th Anniversary Challenge was won by Caroline Farr for her acrylic painting, African Beauty. ‘When I think of Africa,’ writes Caroline, ‘I have always been captivated by the colourful and vibrant dress prints. I knew I wanted to convey rich, colourful tapestry set against the dark landscape, that allowed the setting sun and the glorious prints to shine.’ Caroline came to painting later in life. ‘Finding myself furloughed and then working from home created space in my life and I decided to give painting a try. It very quickly became my passion.’ All winning works will be published in the March 2022 issue of The Artist.
