STAGE THREE
Being happy with the composition, including the central figure, it was now time to apply further detail and colour values. I had originally intended to stop at this point due to the rain, but luckily it began to clear enough for me to carry on. I prepare to work on the entire canvas at the same time, as this helps to allow the brushstrokes to remain fluid, and reduce the risk of overworking any areas. This is a stage whereby many layers of colour and tone are added, which will eventually add depth and range to the final outcome. Little time was spent resolving details, as that could be added only when the balance of colour was finally settled
