STAGE THREE
After drying the painting in the airing cupboard I used a slightly stronger ultramarine/burnt sienna mix, bringing it down the chimney and through the rear building. Then, being careful not to touch this still wet wash, I placed clean water at the top of the curved roof. Dilute burnt sienna was placed into the damp area and brought down the roof. As the wash travelled downward, I introduced more burnt sienna and ultramarine to strengthen and darken the wash. As the wash reached the fence, I cut this (and the camera post) out as a negative shape. Finally, I re-dampened the top of the verge and strengthened the green wash with lemon yellow, ultramarine and a touch of burnt sienna
