Steve’s tips for applying the patchquilt watercolour technique
Always use freshly squeezed tube paint.
Apply different thicknesses of watercolour paint to create light and dark patches of colour, shifting the values.
Use different widths of flat brushes to create the rectangular strokes.
Create transitions by alternating warm and cool colours.
Combine this technique with other paint application methods such as scraping in, overspray, and lifting out.
