Life after a stroke
After su ering a stroke at 32 years of age I struggled because my dominant right arm and leg were paralysed, and my speech was damaged. I was depressed and worried about the future.
I was referred to The Rowans Centre in Worthing, which specialises in services for people who have a brain injury and/ or physical disabilities and complex needs, where I found the art room. On my return home I continued to draw, using my left hand. My new-found passion helped me to relax and keep active, and it also reduced my depression. During lockdown I used the opportunity to do more drawing, and now have over 20 coloured drawings hanging in my apartment. I would like to give hope and encouragement to any one with a disability that new opportunities are discoverable in life.
