INTERNATIONAL WATERCOLOUR MASTERS

-

Lilleshall Hall in Shropshire provides a grand setting for the 2022 International Watercolour Masters exhibition, featuring the work of 42 artists from across the world, chosen for their expertise in the medium of watercolour. In addition to existing members, an additional 12 artists will be showing their work at the exhibition – each of them identified by a worldwide contest run by the International Watercolour Masters. The event has been organised by The Artist contributor, David Poxon. David, an elected member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and the National Watercolour Society of America, lives in Shropshire and has won many awards and accolades for his artwork over the years. The 14-day event, which runs from May 16 to 29, will be accompanied by daily practical demonstrations, broadcasts and lectures hosted by members. ‘I love to get close to my subjects and explore all the frail surfaces slowly transitioning. Watercolour is the perfect medium for capturing this natural process of reclamation. By overlaying multiple washes of transparent colour you can step down in value, but with very careful application maintain the glow from the paper that gives watercolour its unique characteristics.’
