STAGE THREE
I continued to develop the trees and other foliage using the same selection of colours. The foreground grass was mixed with combinations of cerulean, cobalt blue, primary yellow and white. Note that I omitted the yellow ochre from these mixes, thus creating a series of fresher spring greens. The distant sea was a combination of cobalt blue, cerulean, a touch of alizarin crimson and white. The lighter areas in the mid-distance were basically varying tones of yellow ochre and white. The cottages were a thinly applied wash of white, which allowed the warm, tinted ground to show through
