FINISHED PAINTING
Rising Mists, Malham Cove – Malhamdale, The Yorkshire Dales, acrylic inks, watercolour, gouache and soft pastel on (140lb) 300gsm NOT 100% cotton rich watercolour paper, 22330in (56376cm). The final painting is radically different from stage two. There are elements in both stages I like very much. I allowed the painting to lead the way but was absolute in my resolve to maintain a topographically accurate interpretation of the scene. Being brave and losing areas you like to make the painting work as a whole must be done with conviction as these important decisions can help create a cohesive end result
