The Nation's Family Album
In celebration of its recent collaboration with Ancestry, in which over 125,000 digitised portraits from the gallery’s extensive collection have been made available to Ancestry users, The National Portrait Gallery is launching The Nation's Family Album – a search for undiscovered portraits of everyday British people. These portraits will be collated into an online album, representing the diversity of family life in the UK today. Anyone is invited to submit their favourite family photographs, regardless of age, background or culture. A selection of these will be featured with their background stories in an online exhibition as well as an actual exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London when it reopens in 2023, following a redevelopment project. The project will form an important record of our nation’s history and celebrates the rich and diverse family stories across Britain. Submissions for photographs, which must be uploaded digitally, are open now until June 30. For more information about how to submit your family photographs visit www.ancestry.co.uk/FamilyAlbum
