I looked for colours in the shadows. Shadows are generally warmer in the deep part and bluer on the outer areas, as they are reflected from the sky, but this can change if there is a brightly coloured object nearby. I enjoy picking out colours reflected from the surrounding objects. I like to work alla prima so will apply quite thick paint that I can work into during the same session, creating a wonderful texture of lacework and appliqué on the tablecloth
