FINISHED PAINTING
A Typical Seago-Style Landscape, oil on Belle Arti board, 15¾ 19¾in (40 50cm).
While the previous layer was still wet, I worked another layer of more intense thicker colour over the whole painting, and some finer brushwork was used to indicate the distant church, fences and open gate. Seago was a prolific painter, who generally completed a painting in a couple of hours, which is one reason why his paintings always look fresh, spontaneous and not laboured! I’ve left plenty of brushmarks visible, but I’ve blended in some hard edges using my fingers
