Example one – a flat watercolour wash

-

I prepared my watercolour paper using one of the methods described. I then mixed plenty of paint so there would be enough to cover the entire wash area. Remember, you won’t have time to mix more paint if you run out halfway through a wash.

Make sure your board is on a slight angle, by placing a large book under the end of the board. I took a size 8 or larger round brush (or a flat brush) and loaded it with plenty of paint. From the top I carefully worked down the paper, ensuring that I didn’t let the brush dry out by regularly reloading with watercolour. I worked lightly, taking care not to press hard on the paper
