BATH Society of Artists

-

This year will be the Bath Society of Artists’ 117th annual open exhibition featuring work by members as well as work chosen from open submission. Any artist aged over 18 can enter. Last year, from the 1,100 artworks submitted, 367 were exhibited for exhibition, ensuring a broad range of styles and subjects. Each year the society invites a prominent artist to display their works and this year the work of Welsh painter, Shani Rhys James will be on show. Founded in 1904, past members have included many distinguished 20th century painters such as Walter Sickert, John Singer Sargent, Patrick Heron and Howard Hodgkin. Prizes on offer include the Bath Society of Artists Prize of £2,000 plus the Public Choice Prize, worth £600, for which visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote. The Bath Society of Artists’ 117th annual exhibition can be seen at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, from May 14 to July 2. Visit www.victoriagal.org.uk for exhibition information or www.bsa.org.uk for information about the society.
