Coastal Seascape, oil on board, 15¾ 19¾in (40 50cm).
More body colour was added and some cloud structures were emphasised using a combination of hard and soft edges. I used quite thick impasto in places, particularly on the yellow and orange sunset itself. This all helps to add interest. It’s always helpful to introduce a range of similar colours from the sky into the land/sea areas as I have done here, to create uniformity throughout the painting. I’ve been mindful to keep the horizon line loose and undefined to avoid crisp ruled edges
