The Business Year

Alex Ceccato

COMMERCIAL MANAGER, WEG ECUADOR

-

What prompted WEG to establish itself in Ecuador, and how would you classify the projects that have marked your presence?

Ecuador has long been experiencing growth. We developed a strategy to enter the market and participated in different events in 2009 and 2010, which only further emphasized the massive potential of having a local presence. WEG opened a branch in Quito in 2013 to participate in large projects such as water pumping systems, as well as hydroelectric and others. We sold a hydropower plant of 40MW, where we did all the electromechanic equipment for the plant, including turbines and generation units. Later, after 2017, oil prices started to rise, and we began to work for oil companies. Since then, we have been supplying solutions to the oil industry.

Private companies demand greater efficiency and cost-effective solutions. How are WEG products and solutions tailored to meet these requirements?

One strength is that we are a vertical company. For example, we manufacture our own wood packaging, which exemplifies our greater control over our supply chains. By doing so, we optimize costs and offer a more competitive product to the market. We also seek continuous and sustainable development, minimizing waste throughout the production chain, in line with economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection. Currently, the brand offers Ecuadorian companies in different market segments the most efficient solutions.
