Ángeles Delgado CEO SPAIN & PORTUGAL, FUJITSU
Could you tell us about Fujitsu’s evolution in Spain?
Fujitsu has been present in Spain for 45 years now. It was the very-first operation of Fujitsu outside of Japan, and we are here with a long-term view in order to help our customers transform their businesses, generate new revenues, and provide their clients with new customer experiences. To this end, we have been investing in technologies that will change business and society. We have a strong commitment to society and want technology to provide improvements and prosperity.
What is your strategy to maintain your position as the fourth-largest IT service provider in the world?
First, we are building on our experience and capabilities that we have been building in Spain, alongside our customers, for 45 years. I have been in this position for many years now, and the strategy has two directions. One is to attract the best of Fujitsu to Spain because in the digital world, capabilities, technology, and knowledge have to be close to customers because joint collaboration is fundamental. I could mention investments, such as establishing R&D operations in Europe some four years ago, including investing in our software factory in Seville, an IoT center in Valencia, a financial services center in Barcelona, and two data management services centers. The goal is to bring the technology and full capabilities of the Fujitsu Group to Spain. The Fujitsu Group is top in the IT industry with about 100,000 patents. The other direction as far as strategy goes is positioning Spain as a service provider for other countries. The combination of being a European country, having a secure environment to do business, excellent expertise and capabilities, many talented people, and competitive costs makes Spain an excellent country to deliver services to other countries. For example, we are developing the applications to digitalize the post office in the UK from our Seville factory, and our people from Barcelona are delivering world-class services to Schneider Electrics in a number of countries.
