How important is Mozambique for Galp’s global operations?
Mozambique is one of the most important markets for Galp; it is the only market where we have a presence in both upstream and downstream. Galp has been operating in the country for more than 60 years, traditionally focusing more on downstream. Following the success of the gas discoveries in Rovuma, in 2013 we started an upstream office. We now hold a 10% stake in the LNG Rovuma project. Our interests in Mozambique have aligned with the company’s global strategy to balance our oil and gas portfolio to enable a smooth energy transition. Most of Galp’s current upstream projects in Brazil and Angola are oil projects, which is why we want to bet more on gas projects.
