FOUNDER & CEO, NEW WAVES QATAR
What have been your main contributions to Qatar’s digital agenda?
In Qatar, We are a Strategic Partner to the Ministry of Transport and Communications for the Qatar government's Digital Transformation of Small and Medium Enterprises program, whose aim is to transform SMEs into digital businesses as a way to boost the Qatar National Vision 2030. We are members of the DTSME program through a partnership with the Ministry under which we have been delivering monthly training sessions for three years to help the startups and the decision-makers in Qatar create an online marketing strategy.
What are the benefits of establishing a digital-based company in Qatar?
Qatar has a strong technological infrastructure available for the public and private sectors and even at the retail level. The latest technology is available for all devices due to broadband availability and advanced connection. People have an average of 150MB at home, and this figure is much higher for public institutions and private corporations. When the COVID-19 situation occurred, they found it easy to transform within two or three days from traditional to digital business models because they have already had supporting technologies for a few years. On the other hand, since we are an IT company that can contribute to the fulfillment of the 2030 Qatar National Vision, the government gives us all the support needed to transform the private and public sectors.
