Voices from the sector
What have been the main achievements of ibTECHar since its inception in 2012?
Our biggest achievement has been growing organically and ensuring a smooth journey, from the concept to the incubation and growth stage. When we kicked off the idea, the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Qatar was just starting to kick off as well. The dynamism of Qatari ecosystem proved to be an opportunity for us. Thanks to the incubation program we participated in, we managed to receive training, sign commercial contracts, and secure financial support from a bank. We capitalized on the incubation program to develop an understanding of the gaps between academia and industry. Our team’s global background provides us with the knowledge and experience to offer innovative solutions.
What is your growth strategy in Qatar in terms of new projects and products?
With COVID-19, we have a golden opportunity to implement our strategy and develop products without distractions. We are focusing on three main products. The first is productizing our services arm. Another area we are working on is an education program in Arabic language, which is a severe need in Qatar, the region, and the world. The third area is enhancing local production cycle from idea to delivery. We have a golden opportunity to offer a platform that connects local designers with manufacturers and thus, manufacture 100% local products.
