CEO, REVENGA SMART SOLUTIONS
Can you provide an overview of the projects you are developing locally in Spain?
We have had an ongoing collaboration with the public sector in Spain to develop technological solutions. For example, in 2005, the Madrid City Council introduced residential priority areas to limit traffic in certain zones of the city’s center. The initial idea of the Council was to install bollards and physical barriers to restrict entry to non-residents. As an alternative, we proposed using infrared technology, as London did with its Congestion Charge. We started in Barrio de las Letras, later moved into the Cortes district and, finally, helped achieve what we call today Madrid 360. Currently, we are participating in a public tender for Calle 30, which involves updating the control systems to adapt them to the concept of smart roads. The idea is to have all kinds of sensors along tunnels to obtain big data, which, with algorithms and AI, help make these roads safer.
How does Revenga Smart Solutions contribute to achieve global objectives from its business development plan?
As an SME, it is particularly important for us to form part of the UN’s Global Compact. Since 2007, we have been committed to its principles and RSS was one of the first 11 companies in Spain to commit to energy efficiency initiatives across their infrastructure to prevent that 1.5-degree Celsius increase by 2030. In addition, we are aligned and closely engaged with today´s social issues, systematically promoting gender equality and community engagement.
