GENERAL DIRECTOR, CASTROL
What is Mexico’s place within the company’s business strategy?
Castrol is a lubricants division of BP, which is engaged in energy, oil, fuel, gas, and lubricants. Within lubricants, we have the automotive industry, and diesel transport, among others. Overall, we are active in all sectors, and in Mexico, our primary presence is within the automotive sector. Castrol is one of the world's leading lubricant brands. We are a premium brand, and have relationships with leading car manufacturers. One of our goals is to continue building relationships with BP, not only in terms of lubricants, but in the development of sustainable technology, and to participate in advances of tomorrow.
What role will Castrol play within the current oil transition in the market?
Today, the technological sector that develops lubricants is concerned about the environment. And we are leaders in terms of the quality of the raw materials used to manufacture lubricants. Moreover, our plastic containers will be reusable and 100% biodegradable in the future in order to contribute to the sustainability of life on the planet. Business models are changing, both in our industry and others. When a distributor makes a certain amount of money on lubricants and demand goes down, it is necessary to offer other products. Castrol has the responsibility to issue a portfolio of products such as electric chargers. On the European automotive front, we are collaborating in terms of research and development to ensure that our company and BP can work together for future vehicles with improved lubricants or batteries, for example.
