Vera writer has lost the plot

MY wife and I enjoy watching the excellent “Vera” programme every Sunday on ITV and look to recognise the different locations of the North East highlighte­d in each show.

I was greatly amused, however, when one member of the cast mentioned picking up a hitch-hiker at the Blue House roundabout.

In reality, if that had happened in the rush hour the headlines the next day would have been “hitch-hiker causes multi-collision vehicle pile-up at the Blue House roundabout”. PETER CURTIS

Ashington area. Vattenfall has pledged an index linked annual community fund of over £250,000 for the benefit of communitie­s within a 10km radius of its Ray Wind Farm.

The fund is due to commence mid-2017 and is intended to run for the lifespan of the wind farm, which is currently expected to be 20 to 25 years.

The Community Foundation will be helping with the distributi­on of funds for charitable projects.
