Twizell double puts Portrack in an Andy position

NORTH Shields Community Christians will face Stockton Churches Portrack in the final of the Andy Walker Trophy.

The Teessiders overcame Jesmond Parish Church 3-2 in their last-four clash.

Andrew Brown fired Portrack ahead after just three minutes and Lee Twizzell stretched the lead after half an hour.

Jesmond never recovered from the early setbacks and Twizell added his second three minutes into the second period. Ben Robinson struck a late consolatio­n.

Consett Saint Patricks and Sunderland Samba are already through to the last four of the NECFL League Cup, the other two quarter-finals held at the weekend.

Premier Division Saint Pauls Ryhope met Division One’s North Shields Community Christians.

Wasim Collins put Shields in front but the lead lasted four minutes as Kieran Davis converted a penalty.

Daniel Bland put Shields back in front - but again Davies equalised.

Simon Parker volleyed Shields in front again and it looked like they had done enough for victory. However, with just two minutes left, another penalty was awarded and Davies scored completed his hattrick to take the tie into extra time.

The match was heading to penalties but Davies notched his fourth to give the Wearsiders a 4-3 victory and a last-four meeting with Saint Patrick’s in the semi final.

Saint Charles RC Church defeated Saint John’s Snod’s Edge 3-1 and will now face Samba in the other last-four encounter.
