Lovely Jubilee as the Saints go marching on

CONSETT Saint Patrick’s continue to march on in the Premier Division - but it took them 40 minutes to break down Jubilee Church Teesside before Scott Sommervill­e scored.

Paul McBride doubled the advantage after an hour but 10 minutes later Steven Crosby put Jubilee back in the match.

However, in the last 10 minutes Gary Charlton wrapped the game up as Saint Patrick’s won 3-1.

In Division One, YAV went to Morpeth Mighty Oaks and, with Sunderland Samba having a weekend off and North Shields Community Christians in the League Cup, it was an opportunit­y for YAV to move further ahead at the top.

They started the brighter, John Anjokwu and Mensah Koffi netting for a 2-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes.

By half-time, however, it was 2-2 as Matthew Tanney nabbed a double.

On the restart, Lamine Diaby fired YAV back in front, only for a welltaken penalty from Jason Riches to level things again.

Matthew Wilcox notched to put Mighty Oaks in front for the first time and Riches added his second to secure the 5-3 victory.

On Teesside, Hope Church Sunderland visited Praise Christian Church Internatio­nal and netted twice in the first half through Christian Thompson and Jimmy Alderson.

However, in the space of 10 minutes before the hour Twanda Munhupedzi tied the game at 2-2.

Tapson Sibana netted in the last few minutes to see Praise turn the match round and triumph 3-2.

There was a goal in each half from Phil Russell of Heaton Saints, who travelled to Saint Cuthbert’s Corinthian­s.

Josh Poybtz hit a late goal for Saint Cuthbert’s but Saints returned home with a 2-1 victory. ■■NORTH Sunderland finished their Sportsworl­d North Northumber­land League Division One league season in style.
