Legend set for return to city

-

ACCLAIMED, multi-platinum selling, Oscar, Golden Globe, and Grammy Award-winning singer/ songwriter John Legend will return to Europe to embark on his biggest tour yet this autumn, including a gig at the Metro Radio Arena on Saturday, September 9.

The man behind huge hits such as Ordinary People and All of Me was last in Newcastle for a breathtaking set at Christmas Live in December when he brought the house down, so his new Tyneside date – his first ever headline show at the arena – is sure to be a hot ticket.

It was way back in 2004 that Legend released his first album – Get Lifted – which spawned the massive debut smash Ordinary People and scored him multiple Grammy Awards in 2006, including Best R&B Album, Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

The follow-up was 2006’s platinum-selling Once Again, which brought John another Grammy for Best Male R&B Performance, before a 2010 collaboration with the Roots – Wake Up – landed him another in 2010, this time for Best R&B Album. It was John’s fourth solo album, Love in the Future, that produced his biggest worldwide hit to date – All of Me – which sold millions across the globe, landed him a Billboard No1 hit on home turf and became an instant wedding classic. The singer songwriter’s latest album, Darkness and the Light, was released in December and was preceded by hit single Love Me Now, which has so far garnered over 157,000,000 Spotify streams worldwide. John’s latest impact on the UK charts comes courtesy of his reworking of Beauty & the Beast alongside Ariana Grande. Tickets for his September show in Newcastle go on sale this Friday, and are available online from Eventim, from the booking hotline number 0844 493 6666. They will be priced from £49.50.
