A SUMMARY of cases heard at South Tyneside Magistrate­s’ Court between March 13 and 24: Christophe­r Addison, 30, of Macadam Street, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Gateshead on January 28 and failing to surrender to custody on March 10. He was discharged conditiona­lly for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. Michael Corness, 23, of Lawe Road, South Shields, pleaded guilty to stealing perfume, worth £29.99, from TJ Hughes on December 15 and stealing meat, worth £5, from Asda on the same date. He was discharged conditiona­lly for 12 months and ordered to pay £5 compensati­on. Dawn Orchard, 36, of Chandos Street, Deckham, pleaded guilty to, jointly with another, stealing Lynx spray and coffee, worth £40 from Sainsbury’s on January 26 and stealing chocolates, worth £36, from Asda on February 7. She was discharged conditiona­lly for 12 months and ordered to pay £76 compensati­on. Mark Davison, 30, of Victoria Road East, Hebburn, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualifi­ed and without insurance and failing to stop for a police officer on December 13. He was sent to prison for 30 weeks and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge. Damian Kelly, 22, of Brinkburn Street, Tyne Dock, pleaded guilty to damaging a front door, worth £300, on December 30. He was ordered to pay £300 compensati­on and £100 costs. Demi Wright, 20, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing food, worth £47.99, from Tesco on January 24. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay £24 compensati­on and a £30 victim surcharge. Michael Burlinson, 43, of Kilsyth Square, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to possessing amphetamin­e on December 5. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge. Gary Doyle, 31, of Derwentwat­er Road, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to damaging a door frame, worth £150, on March 16. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £150 compensati­on, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge. Andrew Atkinson, 33, Caraway Walk, South Shields, pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, drink driving and driving without insurance on March 4. He was given a 12-month community order and was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 20 months. Dylan Newall, 21, of Baker Street, Howden, pleaded guilty to burgling a home and stealing electrical items, worth £1,980, on March 15. He was given a 26-week prison sentence, suspe nded for 12 months, and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Victoria Wards, 37, of Tatham House, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to stealing razor blades, worth £27, from Wilkinson’s on February 20. She was discharged conditiona­lly for 12 months and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
