Don’t bank on beach weather

-

LAST week’s sunshine may have got you excited for the upcoming Easter holiday – but don’t rush to stock up on sunscreen as the Met Office is predicting a much milder four days.

According to the Met Office, we can expect some showers and strong winds over the weekend. But don’t get too disheartened, there will be some brighter spells – although they won’t be comparable to the 20C the region basked in last weekend.

This is a four-day prediction, so there is a chance conditions could change.

The Met Office says the North East can expect a “variable” day, with large amounts of cloud and showery outbreaks, some of which will be heavy.

As the day goes on, it will get windier.

Expect the rain between 9am and 11am, and again mid-afternoon and early evening.

Winds are set to top 20mph in the afternoon.

Expect a maximum temperature of 13C in the early afternoon.

The Met Office forecasters say: “A windy Saturday with perhaps a frosty start, then sunshine and scattered showers”.

Wind speeds are set to reach 38mph across the late morning and early afternoon. Expect a maximum temperature of around 11C. The highest chance of rain is in the afternoon.

It’ll be a “rather cloudy” Sunday, according to the Met Office. Rain is expected in the afternoon, at around 1pm.

The winds are lighter on Sunday than Saturday, with forecaster predicting peak speeds of around 20mph in the morning, dropping to 16mph in the afternoon in lowland areas. Expect stronger winds in exposed hills.

The top temperature should be around 10C.

Rain is likely in the morning, but the Met Office says it will probably be dry and sunny later on. Although maximum temperatures are set to hover around 9-10C.

Expect top wind speeds between 20 and 30mph.
